An old Hungarian proverb goes "Adam ate the apple, and our teeth are still aching". The story of Garabandal starts with some apples and the innocent souls of four eleven-year-old girls. You may think that that4s not enough to include the Genesis episode, but the connection is closer when you consider that the little village of San Sebastian de Garabandal could easily be the gate of Paradise, and even closer, if the Blessed Virgin is the new Eve that reaches out her hands and deliver to us the fruit of salvation, a collyrium that opens our eyes to good and food for the eternal life; Jesus in His Body and Soul; in His Blood and Divinity, really present in the Eucharist, hidden in His sacred throne of all the tabernacles in the world, Who is nowadays, to His sorrow, a lonely King. July 18th, 1961, Sunday afternoon, four little girls: Conchita, Mari Loli, Jacinta and Mari Cruz, are playing as usual at the town square of San Sebastian de Garabandal (SEE MAP). Two of them, Conchita and Mari Loli, decided, after a short deliberation to go to take some apples from their teacher4s garden. - !That is not exactly devotion! The very moment of the apple-picking, they are caught in the act by the other two, and finally they all end up eating the apples. Suddenly, a lightning from heaven presages justice, and a smiling angel, Saint Michael the Archangel, appears, first to Conchita and afterwards to the others, radiant in a light harmless to the eyesight, and, as usuallly happens, leaves them in awe. Shortly thereafter the four little girls, with tears of emotion, tell everyone in the village what has happened to them, but people distrust The silent angelic apparitions continue. One day the silence is broken and he announces that the Blessed Virgin of mount Carmel would come the following day to meet them personally. July 2nd, 1961, Sunday afternoon, the angel4s announcement is released. The Blessed Virgin presents Herself to the four girls, says Her Holy Rosary, and speaks to them for a long time, to the amazement of curious and faithless. This is the start of the great events that took place afterwards. Send any comment to the email address: pinos.garabandal@ono.com |
